VerdeCares, the volunteer health services provider serving the Verde Communities, is certified by the Alzheimer’s Desert Southwest Chapter in Phoenix to provide confidential Care and Support to Alzheimer’s caregivers during monthly meetings.
“We averaged 12 caregivers for monthly meetings during the fall season,” said VerdeCares Executive Director Vicki Beseke. “Our support group meetings encourage caregivers to share information, give and receive mutual support and exchange coping skills with one another.”
Support group members share practical suggestions for caring based on their caregiving experiences. Also, in-home caregivers and other resources can be referred as needed.
Caregivers of Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s loved ones are welcome to attend the meetings. Call the VerdeCares office for the meeting schedule.
VerdeCares exists on donations. Being an Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO) helps the organization move forward to meet the evolving needs of those aging-in-place and individuals with disabling conditions in the Verde Communities. QCO donations qualify in the 2023 tax year up to April 15, 2024.
Anyone with a few hours a month to volunteer can find a rewarding experience with VerdeCares. To volunteer or for more information about the services and resources available, contact the VerdeCares office at 480-471-8944.
“Helping each other is what makes our Verde communities resilient, healthy and happy as we age in place in this beautiful desert oasis,” Beseke said.
Call the VerdeCares office at 480-471-8944 for more information on any of the services, activities and/or resources available. Office hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
