Clemens: Appreciation for the Fountain Hills Community Band

Posted

Last Sunday I had the pleasure to attend this season’s final concert of the Fountain Hills Community Band at the Community Center. It was great!

The theme was popular music from the 1890s to the 1980s. The music ranged from Gershwin to Abba. I admit l missed the guitars in songs by the Rolling Stones and The Beatles, but found myself clapping along with their final piece, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The members of the band who volunteer their time to perform and practice twice a week should be applauded. There is no charge for the concerts and they rely strictly on public contributions. The concerts resume In December and I encourage everyone to attend. I know I won’t miss it.
