Vice Mayor Skillicorn asks again for Kirk recognition in Fountain Hills

Naming of Community Center

Vice Mayor Allen Skillicorn made a second request to have consideration of naming the Fountain Hills Community Center for slain religious and political activist Charlie Kirk.

Skillicorn asked during the opportunity to request future agenda items at the Oct. 7 council meeting to have the center named the “Charlie Kirk Freedom Center” effective in 2027. His original request was to make the name change beginning in 2026. The date change would bring the request into compliance with town policy related to honorary naming that the individual honored be deceased for at least two years.

Councilmember Hannah Larrabee supported Skillicorn’s request, but no other council member did. It requires a consensus of three members to have a request moved to the agenda, per town policy.
