Fountain Hills Republican Club to meet June 15

State and federal candidates to speak

Posted

As the primary election approaches, the Fountain Hills Republican Club plans to provide several more opportunities to hear candidates discuss the issues, welcoming club members, all Fountain Hills registered Republicans and like-minded Independents as guests to the 9 a.m. meeting Saturday, June 15, at the Fountain Hills Community Center.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. so attendees can enjoy coffee and pastries and visit with friends, candidates and fellow Fountain Hills residents.

The featured speakers for June 15 include two candidates for U.S. House (AZ CD 1), Kim George and Robert Backie; Maricopa County Recorder Candidate Justin Heap; and Maricopa County Treasurer Candidate William Lichsteinn.

Boe James, the club’s program chair and spokesperson, says the club feels a responsibility to assist the electorate by making available sources of information that are pertinent to the upcoming elections. It will continue to provide residents with the opportunity to hear from candidates vying for national, state and local town and county officers.

It is the goal of the club to have the best-informed electorate in the area so voters can go to the polls with confidence, James said, adding that members of the club’s board are determined to ensure a larger number of registered voters vote this year compared to the last primary election.

Pizzas and Politics Roundtable

The club’s monthly social will take on a different format Wednesday, June 26, where attendees will have the opportunity to meet in a small group setting with candidates and have their questions addressed. The event is called Pizzas and Politics Roundtable.

The social will be held at the Community Center. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. where free pizza and sodas will be served.

Pre-registration is required and further details are available at fountainhillsrepublicanclub.com.
