The Philanthropic Educational Organization - Chapter DZ of Fountain Hills (PEO) held a glitzy fashion show-luncheon-silent auction, “Hooray for Hollywood” Saturday, Feb. 22, at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort that helped raise approximately $20,000 for women’s scholarships.
The purpose of the fundraiser was to raise money for women’s scholarships and a total of 240 tickets were sold at the fundraiser.
Classy Jazzy sponsored the fashion show that displayed designer clothes from early morning to midday, cocktail and dinner dance time.
Classy Jazzy owners Hilda and Jim Bourdamis provided the Hollywood-style musical production while displaying their stylish clothes in dance-filled routines and eight PEO models provided entertainment while dancing along the runway to peppy show tunes.
Guests were entertained with background piano music by young ladies from Fountain Hills Piano Studio (Jade DuFour and Sophie Ellis-Copley) while shopping at the raffle and silent auction tables.
Professional singer/entertainer Les Koel sang a medley of motion picture songs during lunch, including a fun-filled production with the models dancing while twirling their umbrellas to “Singing in the Rain.”
The event opened with a “welcome” from chairpersons Paula Plotkin and Susan Slapke. Debbie Murray, president of PEO, explained the purpose of the group.
