Town leadership

Posted

Remember when Ginny Dickey launched her campaign for mayor in 2018 in response to leadership issues like trust, transparency and focus? At the time, she envisioned the need to preadapt – to adjust to new conditions that were not present before.

In electing Ginny, residents and businesses in Fountain Hills were looking for and expecting more with new leadership. Now, after six months of serving the community, council and staff as our mayor, Ginny is meeting those expectations. It may be defined in many ways, but she has brought a new way of leadership to this town. Now, you can see that the mayor and council are:

Participatory: Mayor and council exemplify day-to-day leadership in this town; they are everywhere, both locally and regionally.

Responsive: All seven elected leaders are acknowledging resident and business needs and concerns.

Engaged: Mayor and council openly discuss the key issues and needs of our town.

Accountable: Each accepts responsibility for their decisions and take their roles seriously.

Decisive: Mayor and council are tackling tough issues head-on with prompt and clear decisions.

Attentive: Each listen to constituents about their ideas and issues and how to address them.

Partners: New relationships are being forged with the School District, the Sanitary District, our neighboring Indian communities, utilities, existing and new businesses and regional partners.

Transparent: All meetings are livestreamed and archived and staff provide detailed material and answers requested by council and residents.

Clearly, it is different at Town Hall today than just a short year ago. Mayor and council are working together to make a difference. Staff is clearly stepping up to serve us. There is always room for improvement, but now everyone is working together. New “conditions” are in place. Under the leadership of Mayor Dickey, Fountain Hills is on a better path.
