The blame game

Posted

Many years ago, when Japan was out-producing us and had a higher level of productivity with its workers, I met a Japanese industrialist at a spa in Hawaii. I asked him what their secret was. He replied, “When we have a problem we fix it; when America has a problem they look for someone to blame.”

Now, more than ever, is that statement so true. Let’s see – it’s the Republicans’ fault; no, it’s the Democrats’ fault. Wait, it’s the president and his cabinet’s fault. How about CNN, FOX and all the news media bias — false left-/right-wing reporting — it’s their fault. Haven’t we all had enough of this? Isn’t it time all of our elected officials stop playing the blame game and get to work on fixing the problems? “Can’t we all just get along?” Quote Rodney King.

There should be nothing wrong with negotiations, compromise, advice and consent. It’s called governing, instead of bad-mouthing, insulting, trashing one’s character. There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinions or in backing one’s political party. What is wrong and does not elevate one’s opinion is insulting, ridiculing and showing hatred for other persons or opinions.

My father was a person who loved reading; books, newspapers’ morning and evening editions. I never forgot reading a column in The Wall Street Journal; it was right after President Kennedy had negotiated the Russian removal of Cuban missiles. It said America will never be destroyed by any foreign power. It can only be destroyed from within.

Matthew 7:3: “But why does thou see the speck in thy brother’s eye, and yet not consider the beam in thine own eye?”

It’s time to stop the hate opinions. Tell your governmental parties to fix the problems, not continue playing the blame game.
