Preparation

Posted

It is laughable that because Yates was so unprepared at the mayoral debate, his supporters think it must be because Ginny was given the questions ahead of time and he wasn’t (both candidates were given the questions beforehand).

Then they criticize Ginny for having thoughtful responses prepared that she sometimes read, rather than just making stuff up (e.g. cost of housing) and constantly interrupting the way Yates did. Being prepared is a liability in the eyes of Yates’ supporters? And no, she didn’t refer to her cell phone. Absurd accusations toward Ginny do not improve Yates’ performance.

These are some reasons I will vote for Ginny and urge everyone who wants a responsible town government to do the same. I want a mayor who is informed, prepares ahead of time, who is professional – not interrupting and making snide remarks (Yates also showed this behavior in the public flogging and firing of the town attorney, which has cost the town hundreds of thousands of extra dollars); whose interest is the town, not personal business connections; who pays her bills without being sued (see realyates.com).

I want a mayor who supports our schools (our largest employer), including having her three sons graduate here and serving on the school board, not sending school tax money to Scottsdale as Yates has done; who does not have business connections with and hasn’t written a testimonial for the contractor who sued the town; who will function with transparency, not planning something like the lagoon fiasco behind closed doors, then springing it on the rest of the council; who will get citizen input on the best ways to meet the town budget, not a one-trick pony whose only idea is build, build, build.
