As the new member relations manager at the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, I am thrilled to share a monthly “Chamber Update,” with this being the first installment. Since starting this position mid-February of this year I have had the pleasure of personally meeting with over 250 businesses and presented our organization to numerous organizations and local groups and we have welcomed 61 new businesses as Chamber members. I joined a long-standing, committed staff at the Chamber to promote and advocate local business.

Our effort to connect local businesses has been extremely successful with our Lunch Mob summer program. We welcomed members and the community to lunch at the Fireside Grill in June, Que Bueno in July, HD Asian Bistro in August and we will be wrapping up this summer program with a Lunch Mob visit to Sofrita Sept. 27. Everyone is invited to “mob” Sofrita that day and meet someone new.

We also brought many of our events to local businesses through the Fountain Hills Young Community (FHYC). The FHYC is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town to promote tourism and vitality in our community. The mission of the FHYC is to grow and foster the young community and young at heart of Fountain Hills and further Fountain Hills as a diverse and vibrant town. Our three core pillars are active lifestyle, social connection and community engagement.

fhSocial rocked the house at Georgie’s Diner with our first annual karaoke contest, tested our knowledge with a trivia contest at FireSide Grill and we racked ‘em and sank ‘em with a billiards and shuffle board contest at he Alamo. fhActive went off-roading with AZ Adventures and kayaking with Saguaro Lake Ranch Stables. fhCommunity was able to donate $175 to the Salvation Army (with directions to give it directly back to the branch that supports Fountain Hills) and the Community Garden from the funds raised by the social events.

Our Chamber events have really ramped up with great participation at all of our Monthly Mixers. Make sure to be on the lookout for a special Mixer coming up, as it will be “Mixer Mayhem.” Top secret for now with details released at the Sept. 10 Mixer hosted by Fountain View Village in their Bistro.

Our Chamber University program has been opened up to the public and not just Chamber members, with the launch of our June education segment brought to you by JumpStart Biz owners Mike Tyler and Lynne Whitman. July’s Chamber U featured Debbie Clason from Clason Communications with “7 Steps to a Successful Marketing Plan,” which was shared on our Chamber Facebook page as a Facebook Live segment. The August Chamber U featured Scott Holman with Edward Jones with “Women and Investing.”

The last two FH Connect Networking Breakfasts each boasted 80-100 people in attendance and is also open to the public. We are looking forward to our next quarterly breakfast in September with the new Economic Development Director, James Smith, and Whitestone REIT Vice President, Dan Kovacevic, as our speakers. Attend to get an economic update for Fountain Hills as well as an update on the businesses in the Bashas’ Plaza, owned by Whitestone REIT.

We are proud to share our community involvement with a sponsorship to the River of Time Museum for their annual P-Bar Ranch event, as well as an “All-Star” sponsorship for the Fountain Hills Soccer Club.

Lastly, we introduced FountainCast, which is our very own podcast. Hosted by the Chamber’s Paige Lorentzen, FountainCast is your local source for community updates. You may check it out wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.
