died peacefully at Eckstein Center/Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale on Nov. 25, 2018.

Born Sept. 20, 1925 in Skidmore, Mo., Vivian grew up during the Great Depression. She had a childhood that would sap the spirit of most people, but Vivian was always a fighter and went on to thrive in college. She was a highly popular coed at Northwest Missouri State College, where she joined Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.

While teaching home economics in Albany, Mo., Vivian met and fell in love with Bill Virden. The two of them lived a fulfilling life in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she is still lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Vivian and Bill retired to Fountain Hills in 1990. She loved desert life and served as a Fountain Hills Ambassador for several years, she was also a very active member of Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir.

She is survived her three children and two grandchildren. Vivian will be remembered at a memorial service at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
