Stanley Noble Jones, 85, retired Presbyterian pastor, died peacefully at his Fountain Hills home in the company of his beloved wife and family on Oct. 30, 2015 after a protracted struggle with cancer.

Stan was born on Dec. 31, 1929 at the Women’s Hospital in Pasadena, Calif. to Reverend Clifford and Mabel (Noble) Jones. Following his graduation from Occidental College, he married his high school sweetheart, Louise Anna (Easton), June 10, 1951 in Bellflower, Calif.

The newlyweds then moved to Marin County so that Stan could attend San Anselmo Theological Seminary – the first step in 61 years of pastoral service. In 1954, Stan, his wife and infant son moved to Florence, Ariz. to begin service as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and Protestant Chaplain at the Arizona State Prison. He then served parishes in Placentia and Granada Hills, Calif. spanning 27 years.

In 1972, he moved his family to Columbia, Md. to serve as the Director of Seminary Ministries for the national organization Faith at Work – leading retreats for young clergy at 34 seminaries nationwide.

He continued to devote his remaining years to the conviction that “we” all have the same “spiritual DNA” as Jesus, and “that he came to wake us up and enable us to become what God created us to be, especially in our relationships.”

Stan and Louise have lived in Fountain Hills since 1991, where Stan continued to serve as interim pastor to several Arizona parishes. He most recently served as parish associate at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. Before his death, he completed a lifelong book project titled, “The Treasure is in the People.”

He is survived by his wife Louise and married daughters, Sharon and Anthony (Drake), Lorraine and Randy (Cain), Lynda and Paul (Rogers) as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. His son Stephen precedes him in death.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 Fountain Hills Blvd., on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.
