Roy Kinsey

Posted

Roy Kinsey was born in Buffalo, N.Y. July 31, 1922. He passed away at his home in California on Dec. 16, 2018.

Soon after he entered Middlebury College, World War II began. Roy joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in the Pacific. He was grateful to be an Iwo Jima survivor.

He returned to Middlebury, graduating with a degree in chemistry, followed by a master’s in analytical chemistry from Iowa State. At Middlebury, he met Beverly Boynton, his future wife of 70 years. He is survived by her; his two sons, David (Anna) and Stephen (Jean); his grandson, Breeze (Ashley) and his great grandson, Elwyn.

Roy worked for E.I. DuPont for 33 years, living in New Jersey, Texas, and Delaware. He and Bev moved to Fountain Hills in 1984. He was a member of Noon Kiwanis, the Sheriff's Posse, and for years he distributed Home Delivered Meals all over town.

His love of nature and hiking led him to help establish the Fountain Hills Conservancy and actively participate with the Trailblazers.

Roy was a humble man with a big smile, a willingness to work hard, and a strong belief in giving to his community. He will be missed by many.

A private family memorial is planned.
