James Patterson

Posted

James “Jim” Patterson, 67 years old, passed away on Jan 23, 2019 while being cared for at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving partner, Patti; daughter, Kate; son, Reese; daughter-in-law, Alison; grandsons, Jack, Riley, Dylan; sisters, Sharon, Robin, Linda; stepmother, Anita; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jim was born May 7, 1951 in Wichita, Kan. and moved to Amesbury, Mass. as a young boy. He was a Kansas boy at heart but quickly became a New Englander; loving both the ocean and the mountains.

After high school he proudly joined the Navy serving on the USS Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier during the Vietnam era and after which, also proudly, earned his plumbing license. He went on to HVAC sales for Urell Inc. and, finally, Mestek Inc. It was while with Mestek he discovered Scottsdale and opened a branch there. He again adapted quickly and became a “desert rat” as he liked to call himself.

Jim and his late wife, Joyce, thrived in Fountain Hills building a full life with friends and surrounded by his favorite McDowell Mountains.

His final chapter of professional life was his most fulfilling- Realtor – working with MCO Realty and later Sonoran Lifestyle Realty. Jim and Joyce were a team; not only selling properties, but keeping many clients as close friends.

He loved sharing “his” Arizona with family, but also enjoyed his visits back to families in Kansas, Florida and New England. Jim returned to Amesbury after reconnecting with his high school sweetheart, Patti, who was at his side throughout his illness.

In lieu of flowers, Jim wished for donations to be made to Wounded Warrior Project or The White Helmets.

A celebration of life reception was held on Feb. 9 at Michael’s Harborside in Newburyport, Mass.
