Pickleball Club donates to FH school district

Posted

The Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board held an open meeting on Wednesday, April 10, where the board received a donation from The Fountain Hills Pickleball Club and to discuss submitting their top five priorities for the Arizona School Board Association 2020 Political agenda.

FHUSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Allen started his usual informational report to the board by congratulating McDowell Mountain Elementary School principal Valerie Dehombreux for the achievement of MMES receiving the Arizona Education Foundation’s A+ School of Excellence rating.

All board members echoed Allen’s congratulations and praise to Dehombreux and the MMES community during their Governing Board reports at the end of the meeting.

After Allen concluded his reports the school board heard a special presentation from the Fountain Hills Pickleball Club. Former President Claire Keyworth and current President Jan Goodman presented the board with a donation of $500 to the district.

Next, the board approved the consent agenda and moved into the information and discussion portion of the meeting.

The first item that was discussed was changes to certified and classified meet and confer documents and the second item was the board sending its five priorities to ASBA for the association 2020 political agenda.

The board decided they would each send their personal choices to board member Judith Rutkowski, who will organize their choices for the board to discuss further before voting to submit the top five picks.

Lastly the board discussed a proposed field trip for the Fountain Hills High School Life Skills class. The trip is on April 30 to Cieneaga High School in Vail for The Hollywood Nights Special Needs Prom.

The next FHUSD Governing Board meeting is on Wednesday, April 24.
