Water line work in home stretch

EPCOR Water is nearing the final phase of its project to replace more than a mile of new water main along Sunridge Drive in Fountain Hills.

The final phase will require a traffic detour and is expected to cause some delays.

EPCOR worked with town officials to develop the approved traffic plan: Northbound traffic on Sunridge Drive at Palisades Boulevard will be detoured to Golden Eagle Boulevard and Desert Canyon Drive, at which point traffic can then access southbound Sunridge Drive.

The final phase of construction is expected to begin the week of July 8 and continue through Friday, July 26.

Starting in April of this year, EPCOR began replacing more than a mile of PVC pipe with a new 12-inch ductile iron water main. The new pipe is far more durable and is being installed using proper backfilling and bedding procedures, safeguarding against the frequent water main breaks this stretch of road has experienced in recent years.

EPCOR officials say the infrastructure project will ensure long-term system reliability and reduce water loss in the community.

EPCOR has stated that the patience of the Fountain Hills community during this project is appreciated.
