The Town Council has called a special meeting for Tuesday, March 26, to discuss the capital improvement plan for the 2019/2020 fiscal year that begins July 1. The council will also discuss, with possible direction to staff, proposals for new revenue options for the Town of Fountain Hills.

Staff is proposing capital projects totaling $1.7 million. The current balance in the CIP fund is approximately $3.7 million. The plan also includes vehicle replacement separate from the CIP fund.

Staff has a list of recommended revenue adjustments for the upcoming fiscal year that includes a sales tax increase (.3 percent); increase the environmental fee from $36 annually to $62 annually; reallocation of vehicle license tax revenues to return 30 percent to the General Fund (currently it all goes to the street fund); implement a solid waste fee of $1 per month; and consider user fee adjustments early next fiscal year based on completion of the cost of service study. Staff is estimating those adjustments would raise about $1.47 million for the next year.

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, in council chambers at Town Hall the meeting is open to the public.
