The Fountain Hills Sanitary District has made an official call for an election of members to its board of directors. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Anyone interested is seeking one of the three expiring seats on the board may visit the district offices on Pepperwood Circle to pick up nominating petitions and candidate paperwork. The potential candidates must have the completed nominating petitions returned to the district by Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 12 p.m.

The three seats with expiring terms are currently held by Jerry Butler, Michael Maroon and Bob Thomson. All three have indicated they intend to seek re-election.

This election is subject to cancellation under provisions of state law in the event that only one person or no person files a nominating petition for each open seat.

The deadline to register to vote in this election is Monday, Oct. 7, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

The election is a special district mail ballot election with ballots to be mailed to all registered voters living in the district. The ballots will be mailed on Oct. 10, 2019.

Seats on the Sanitary District Board of Directors are four-year terms with the newly elected directors taking office effective Jan. 1, 2020.

The Fountain Hills Sanitary District is a special district which oversees and operates the wastewater collection and treatment systems for the community. It is a governing body with taxing and rate authority separate and independent of the Town of Fountain Hills.
