The Fountain Hills Sanitary District is gearing up to celebrate 50 years of successful operation since its founding on July 21, 1969. The Sanitary District will host an open house for all to take part in on Monday, July 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Advanced Water Treatment Facility, 16910 E. Kiwanis Dr.

Take a tour of the sophisticated membrane treatment system and learn how the Sanitary District is unique in that it treats and recycles all used water in town. According to an event announcement, the Sanitary District takes pride in its community efforts to be good stewards of the environment and help protect the desert’s limited water sources. Members of the community are invited to drop by the open house on July 22 and see how far they’ve come in the past 50 years.
