Senior Services, Inc. (SSI) and the Town of Fountain Hills are encouraging “New Adventures” for senior citizens in Fountain Hills by providing free transportation to events.

The third and final adventure this winter will be a trip to the Queen Creek Olive Mill on Thursday, March 21. Participants will receive the group rate advantage for their lunch and tour, and free transportation on a luxury charter bus provided by SSI.

Transportation has been identified as a major concern for seniors in Fountain Hills. There are many opportunities for recreation and education in our larger metropolitan area, but driving to these events can be a deterrent to some seniors. SSI hopes that providing quality transportation will allow more Fountain Hills residents to take advantage of these opportunities.

The Queen Creek Olive Mill trip offers a lunch entree, including their trademark extra virgin olive oil cupcake dessert, a tour and free time for shopping in their gift shop for the group rate cost of $27 per ticket. The luxury charter bus will depart from the Community Center at 10:15 a.m. on March 21 and should return by 4 p.m.

Reservations can be made and tickets can be purchased through AZ Trails Travel at 480-837-8665, or in person at 16550 E. Palisades. Ask for Neda. More information is also available at the Community Center.

Fountain Hills’ “New Adventures” most recent trip on Feb. 6 was to the Musical Instrument Museum in North Phoenix. Forty-seven adventurers took advantage of the free transportation and enjoyed a tour of musical instruments and their history, and lunch in the museum cafe. As the group gathered to depart, Fountain Hills winter visitor, Don Corey, entertained on the magnificent Steinway grand piano in the lobby of the museum.

Senior Services Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit board with funds available to assist organizations who provide services for seniors in Fountain Hills. For more information about SSI, or for a grant request for a qualifying organization, visit fhseniorservices.org.
