Less than two weeks remain before Fourth of July festivities at Fountain Park and fundraising efforts are approaching $21,000.

The committee led by organizer Phyliss Kern of Kern Entertainment LLC, set a goal of $30,000 for “Fourth at the Fountain.”

The town and Kern Entertainment partnered to repeat the free family-friendly event from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4.

The celebration will include 10 to 12 food trucks parked on Saguaro Boulevard, a children’s play area, recorded music and a fireworks display lasting around 20 minutes, said Kern.

The event will be free. No alcohol will be served.

“You know the procedure, so keep those checks coming. It’s a joy to be able to accumulate these funds for the Fourth of July Fireworks,” Kern said. “I believe I have been involved for at least 25 years in getting donations.

“Hope to see everyone on the 4th of July. Thank you and remember nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

Donations can be left at Kern’s office, 16742 E. Parkview Ave., unit 3, or mailed to her.
