Fire burning at Fort McDowell

Posted

Fort McDowell Fire Department is working to control a brush fire on tribal land just to the east of Fountain Hills on Friday afternoon.

Heavy smoke is visible from various locations throughout Fountain Hills.

At about 4 p.m. the fire was burning in dense vegetation along the west side of the Verde River about a quarter mile from the Fort McDowell Rec Center, with winds blowing away from the developed area.

Fort McDowell Fire is being assisted by Salt River Fire Department and has aerial support.
