Firefighters from Fountain Hills and Fort McDowell responded to a brush fire along the Beeline Highway just before noon on Friday, June 21.

The fire, reported at about five acres, was confined to the median of the highway at mile post 195.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames of the fire that created smoke blowing across the highway. The inside lane on the northbound side was closed for a time to allow for equipment to access the blaze.

Fountain Hills sent an engine and brush truck along with a similar response from Fort McDowell. Tonto National Forest also brought several pieces of equipment to the scene.
