Balloon glow in fountain Park closes out 2018

When Phyliss Kern of Kern Entertainment decided to promote a holiday hot air balloon glow, her idea was to encourage couples and families to patronize a restaurant before or after the event.

A number of restaurants near Fountain Park have supported her idea by contributing money to subsidize the free attraction.

Six tethered balloons provided by Shane Cory, owner of Aerogelic Ballooning in Phoenix, will inflate from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.

Disc jockey Steve Grocz will play recorded music. Vendors will be limited to a chocolate maker, Water & Ice, a taco cart and T-shirt vendor.

Kern encourages the public to stop by La Mai Thai Cuisine, All American Grill, Georgie’s Diner, Euro Pizza, Arrivederci, Senor Taco, La Botana and Que Bueno. She also thanked the town for waiving the rental fee for the park.

Also, donations can be placed in a container on the showmobile.

“Pray for a nice, clear evening and great picture taking,” said Kern.

The long-range forecast for Dec, 29 predicts a daytime high of 68 degrees.
