Perreault receives 2018019 mentor honor

The Rotary Club of Fountain Hills annually gives special recognition to the Golden Eagle Education Foundation (GEEF) Mentor of the Year.

Paul Perreault received the honor from Mentor Council President Jeannie Ryan for his service to the young students in Michelle McElroy’s McDowell Mountain Elementary School first grade class.

McElroy wrote in her recommendation of Perrault, “Paul has donated his time and energy for four years. Our grade level is not easy (teaching them to read) but Paul continues to have a ‘whatever you need’ attitude. He’s also one of the few mentors who starts in September and continues through May.”

Perreault also was nominated by second grade teacher Nicole Latona, who wrote, “Paul is so consistent, caring and helpful. He creates a good relationship with his mentee. I have seen so much growth in my student. He (Perreault) is such an excellent mentor and very flexible. I really appreciate his hard work.”

Previous teachers who nominated Perreault said things like, “He donated countless supplies to our class and he comes every week without fail.”

The Rotary Club supported the GEEF Mentoring Council again this year with a donation of $1000.
