Stricker named Pal's Inn's new operations director

Posted

When 23-year-old Jessica Stricker was named assistant manager at Pal’s Inn, she was expecting to be in that position for a long while.

But then Director of Operations Tracy Rothstein decided to move to Massachusetts. Stricker was promoted and now is Pal’s Inn Pet Resort director of operations.

Stricker is a familiar face at the kennel and doggie daycare center. She began working there as a young teenager, helping out at the facility, as well as volunteering with Rescue Pals, which is housed at Pal’s Inn. She went to work for Pal’s when she was 16.

Her skills at Pal’s Inn come from a lifetime love of dogs, along with a degree in animal science with an emphasis on business from the University of Arizona. Stricker grew up in Fountain Hills, attending schools here from preschool through graduation.

She is certified in dog obedience training and is a certified trick dog instructor. She also is certified in pet nutrition.

In addition to her managerial duties, Stricker offers basic obedience and trick training at Pal’s Inn. She also teaches privately. She has an Etsy shop to sell her dog bandanas, which also are available at Pal’s Inn.

“I like to be busy,” Stricker said. “And I love training. It is my passion.”

Stricker has one dog of her own, Ivy, an Australian shepherd. They participate in shows when Stricker has the time.

At one point, Stricker considered veterinary medicine as a career.

“But it would be too sad for me,” she said. “I get way too attached to animals. Being a vet would be too hard. I feel like this type of work with animals is perfect for me.”

Pal’s Inn is going in to its 12th year in the community. It is located at 11669 N. Saguaro Blvd. The facility offers boarding, daycare, grooming, training as well as a retail section featuring food and accessories. Hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For information, call 480-837-0069.
