Real estate firm hires local lawyer

MacQueen & Gottlieb, PLC, an Arizona real estate law firm, has hired Fountain Hills local Brandon Bodea as its newest attorney.

Bodea, a law clerk at the firm for the past 18 months, will focus on real estate and property law practice areas.

Bodea graduated magna cum laude with a juris doctor degree from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in May 2018 and passed the state bar exam in October.

He graduated 10th in his class of 2016, putting him in the top five percent of his class and was the articles editor for the Arizona State Law Journal. He received a full tuition waiver based on his undergraduate academic standing and his LSAT scores.

He was presented the Dean’s Award for outstanding performance at Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and received four CALI Excellence for the Future Awards: for Professional Responsibility, Real Estate and Business Valuation, Construction Law and Trust Law.

Upon graduating, he was formally accepted as a member of the Order of the Coif honor society.

He earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA in political science with a minor in philosophy from ASU in 2015. He also added a certificate in international studies.

The Fountain Hills native was on the Dean’s List in every semester he qualified as an undergraduate, was awarded the ASU Academic Achievement Scholarship four semesters and was a Moeur Award recipient.

Bodea put his political science education to work in 2014 as an intern in U.S. Senator Jeff Flake’s Phoenix office. He developed case work, assisted and interacted with constituents, worked the phones and organized data.

Asked if political office is in his future, he said, “Well, I have a tremendous interest in politics and current affairs, so maybe. If so, I’d start with a very small office, something like the school board or local office, where you can really make an impact on people’s lives at a grass-roots level.”

“With Brandon having worked here for the past year and a half as a law clerk, it’s a bit different than a traditional new hire,” said Patrick MacQueen, a founding partner of the firm. “Brandon has been here doing such high-quality work for such a long time it seems like he’s already been a practicing attorney. We leaned on him a lot as a clerk and he responded very well which let us know he’d be a great addition to the firm on a permanent basis.”
