Fiscal management of at least a $500,000 annual budget, visioning/planning and business advocacy are qualifications that the Chamber of Commerce board of directors seeks in its next CEO/President.

A search began May 15 to find a successor for Scott Soldat-Valenzuela. He submitted his resignation April 10 to the board of directors to move to Colorado.

Qualifications for the position can be viewed at indeed.com. Compensation is not listed.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree. Desired is an advanced degree in business, law, public administration or related field.

Also desirable is the successful candidate be a graduate of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management, Western Association of Chamber Executives’ Academy or Certified Association Executive designation.

The ideal candidate must have at least eight years of experience and a “proven track record of success,” according to the profile. The experience can come from a variety of backgrounds including being the top executive within a comparably-sized chamber of commerce, economic development organization or “strong record of community involvement from a complex private or public-sector entity.”

The position prospectus states that the Chamber membership totals more than 350 members ranging from small entrepreneurial businesses to operations of multinational corporations.

The two arts and crafts festivals generate a significant amount of revenue for the organization’s $900,000-plus budget and operations.

The new executive will oversee the remodeling of the 20-year-old office building at Verde River Drive and Palisades Blvd., which will add about 4,500 square feet of space to the facility.

The new center will feature co-working space, leased offices, expanded conference rooms and a new town visitor center, according to the press release.

The new CEO is expected to take the helm at the end of August.
