Schweers: Support good government in the upcoming election

For truth’s sake, following is our budget here in Fountain Hills, relative to other east Valley municipalities during FY 2023-24.

Municipalities with Primary property taxes: Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Queen Creek. Those with Secondary property taxes: Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert.

Please note that Fountain Hills has neither tax (which would provide reliable funding, as most other municipalities do) yet unbelievably we still spend less than anyone, including Apache Junction. We have a per capita expenditure of $1,824 compared to $2,899 for Apache Junction.

The other municipalities come in with per capita expenditures of: Carefree - $4,064;  Paradise Valley - $4,507;  Mesa - $5,003;  Chandler - $5,912;  Tempe - $7,104;  Gilbert - $7,442;  Scottsdale - $10,366;  Cave Creek - $10,977; and Queen Creek at a whopping $11,325.

We in this very upscale and beautiful town should be so ashamed for listening to Allen Skillicorn and his crew, and letting our town fall even behind Apache Junction in financial support. This support is vital to maintaining our property values and way of life and enticing others to move here.

Not only are the ROT candidates for mayor and council very uninformed about local government, but they’re further dividing our community with misinformation, fear and hate against certain residents. Not a good look for a town!

Please support good government by voting for Mayor Dickey and council candidates Peggy McMahon, Clayton Corey, Henry Male. Don’t let lies, chaos and division win! Disregard the signs springing up all over our town accusing Ginny Dickey and “The Leftists” of ruining our town and wasting our money. Facts prove them wrong.

Looks to me like the mayor and council deserve a thank you for maintaining our town on a shoestring as ROT members continue to vote down much-needed bonds to support our schools, maintenance and other needs.
