“Mickey’s Jukebox, A Tribute to the Music of Disney” has added a new component.
Audience members can participate in the production in “Be a Star,” an audience participation event. When purchasing tickets by phone or in person, buyers should tell the box office they want to be a star.
When the “star” arrives at the theater on the selected date, they will be invited to have a private backstage rehearsal with musical director Jay Melberg. Near the beginning of Act II of Mickey’s Jukebox, the star will be introduced, brought to the stage and featured as guest star of the performance.
“Be a Star” is limited to one guest star slot per performance. (First come, first served.) The “star” must provide piano sheet music from a Disney film or stage show in the correct key. “Stars” should arrive at the theater 40 minutes before curtain to meet and rehearse with Jay Melberg. “Stars” are limited to no more than 10 performers in a group.
“Mickey’s Jukebox, A Tribute to the Music of Disney” is a one-of-a-kind musical. Audience members who arrive at least 15 minutes before curtain, are invited to select their favorite Disney songs from the giant jukebox of more than 100 of the greatest Disney songs ever written. Each show is as unique and as different as the audience that created it.
Buy one adult ticket and get one child’s ticket free. Tickets are $33 for adults and $18 for youth 17 and younger.
They can be purchased online at fhtaz.org, or by calling the box office, 480-837-9661, ext. 3. The theater is located at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. “Mickey’s Jukebox” will be performed on Mainstage Too.
“Mickey’s Jukebox” plays each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 4. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
“Mickey’s Jukebox, A Tribute to the Music of Disney,” is produced by Copperstate Productions, created and directed by Peter J. Hill, choreographed by Noel Irick and musically directed and accompanied by Jay Melberg.
