Celebrate youth theater April 27

The second annual celebration of the youth theater season is set for Saturday, April 27.

The committee has been busy organizing the event, collecting silent auction items, sending out invitations and making last minute plans for the event meant to recognize the kids and the parents involved in Fountain Hills Youth Theater.

“We just want to honor those people who are involved in the youth program at the theater,” said Committee Chair Kelle Hohl. “This event does that.”

The fundraiser will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church Fellowship Center, 13001 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.

In addition to a pasta dinner catered by The Hills Pizza and Desserts Trattoria (including spaghetti, salad and desserts), entertainment will be provided by youth theater alumni Logan Barrett, Summer Beckman, Patrick Moyse and Jacqui Notorio. Another alumn, Katie Male will serve as emcee for the evening.

The silent auction will feature family-friendly items such as cooking baskets, arts and crafts baskets, baskets for preteen boys and girls and a number of experiences such as voice lessons and acting lessons and a dinner with firefighters.

Tickets are $20. They can be purchased online at fhtaz.org or by calling the theater, 480-837-9661, ext. 3.

The event comes at a good time for the youth theater. A burst pipe at the theater caused considerable damage to the youth dressing room, along with the main lobby, restrooms, hallway and the executive director’s office. Insurance will take care of some of the damage, but raising money for the youth program will help with some of the projects.

“We already have projects we want to fund with proceeds from the dinner,” Hohl said. “But we may be able to help with some of the damage expenses.”
