Voices of Vienna at SOTH

Award-winning voices singing favorite Broadway, Viennese operetta and opera selections will be featured at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Shepherd of the Hills (SOTH) Lutheran Church, 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
The Voices of Vienna consist of Erika Wueschner, Asleif Willmer, Miriam Schildkret and Jeffrey Brand. Dr. Robert Mills of Arizona State University’s Lyric Opera Theater, will accompany them.
Selections from My Fair Lady, The Merry Widow, and arias from Romeo and Juliet and Carmen will be featured.
Viennese desserts will be served after the free concert. Donations will be accepted for the high school scholarship fund of Shepherd of the Hills Foundation.
The Voices of Vienna has presented programs featuring Viennese Operetta in Minnesota since 1987 and in Arizona since 2014 in collaboration with the Austrian Society of Arizona featuring graduate vocal majors.
The singers will be:
Erika Wueschner; soprano, a performer in the lighter roles of Strauss and Wagner repertoire in European opera houses and a soloist on international concert stages. She received the Nilsson Prize of the Domingo Operalia Competition.
Asleif Willmer; soprano, has appeared in major roles with the Light Opera Theater at Arizona State University. She had a leading role at the Brevard Music Festival and received an ArtZoni award for Best Supporting Actress and was a winner in the 2017 Southwest Vocal Competition.
Miriam Schildkret; mezzo soprano, performs opera and concert roles at ASU and nationally. She is an Arizona Opera chorus member and teaching artist in the outreach troupe, OperaTunity.
Jeffrey Strand; tenor, has appeared in many opera, operetta and concert stage productions. He is the first prize recipient of the March 2017 Phoenix Opera Southwest Vocal Competition.
Dr. Robert Mills; vocal coach and accompanist, has taught throughout the world and conducted concerts promoting American art songs.
