'Solis Camerata' at Arts at Ascension

Posted

The largest ensemble group to ever appear at Arts at Ascension will perform Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at Church of the Ascension when Solis Camerata (Choir of the Sun) appears.

Solis Camerata is a vocal ensemble of 12 singers who perform early and modern choral music with ageless simplicity and beauty. Many of performers hail from the three-time Grammy-winning Phoenix Chorale.

Composers of the Middle Ages and Renaissance through pieces shrouded in questions that remain a mystery to humankind will be featured. Solis Camerata will perform tantalizing works that explore the mystery of God, the mystery of love, the mystery of lightness and darkness and finally, the musical mysteries as explored by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th Century New World. Works include music by Palestrina, Hildegard Von Bingen, Thomas Tallis and more.

The Friday evening performance will be held at Church of the Ascension, 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. A reception follows.

General admission tickets are available for the performance for $15 per person. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the music program at St. Matthew's Catholic School. Last season Arts at Ascension raised more than $16,000 for the central Phoenix school. Tickets can be purchased securely at artsatascension.org.
