Locals to perform 'Americana'

Residents Scott Hallock and Billy Grant will appear in the show, “Americana,” a musical tribute to the timeless songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

The show will be held at Christ’s Church Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Hallock is a singer/songwriter/entertainer and owner of Barrel Cactus Recording and Teaching Studio in Fountain Hills. He has been performing in the Valley for more than 25 years and is a featured singer and guitarist in the “Americana” production.

Grant, lead guitarist, is a student at ASU and has opened for the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd and performed with many other musicians as well.

The show features the music of American singers and songwriters including Simon and Garfunkel, The Mamas and The Papas, James Taylor, The Carpenters, Jim Croce, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Beach Boys and others.

“Americana” celebrates an era of lasting classics including “You Light Up My Life,” “Mrs. Robinson.” “Close to You,” “American Pie,” “Cats in the Cradle,” “Both Sides Now”, “California Dreaming and many others..

“Americana” is a professional show produced by Greg Ansel of Ansel Entertainment and consists of an eight-piece band featuring four lead vocalists. The group has been performing throughout the Valley and state for the past three years to sold out audiences.

Christ’s Church is located at 15555 E. Bainbridge Ave. in Fountain Hills. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and may be purchased by calling 480-816-1884.
