Dixieland Hotshots play at Presby

Dan Reed’s Dixieland Hotshots are next up in the Pat Covault Memorial Concert Series.

The event is set for Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

Dan Reed has been called an “amazing trumpeter” who started his musical journey at the ripe-old age of nine in St. Louis, Mo.

While in high school, Reed had an opportunity to play one night at the Preservation Hall in New Orleans where he met Al Hirt. That is when he fell in love with traditional jazz.

With music in his blood and St. Louis jazz surrounding him, it’s no surprise his greatest influences were Al Hirt, Maynard Ferguson, Bill, Chase, Louis Armstrong, Doc Severinsen and others.

Reed has been described as an amazing musician and as much fun to watch as a “whirling dervish.” Dan and his Hotshots will take the audience on a trip to New Orleans to hear Dixieland as it’s not been heard or seen before.

Tickets in all price ranges are available, with $25, $20, $16 and $10 seats for sale. They can be purchased at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. No credit cards can be accepted. Call the church office, 480-837-1763.
