Nothing more...

Once upon an empire crumbling, people wandered weak and stumbling; Over many a quaint and curious result of some Keynesian lore; As we nodded, nearly napping, suddenly our balance sheets gaping; As of an abyss suddenly happening, washing up upon our shore. ‘Tis some treasure, we muttered, bashing up upon our shore - Only this, and nothing more.

Ah, distinctly we can recall, our income and wealth began to fall; And each separate dying sector wrought its ghost upon the floor; Eagerly we wished to borrow; - vainly we had sought to borrow; From our Fed we sought to borrow - borrow in order to buy some more – To compensate for declining earnings we vainly tried to borrow more - But, we consume less forevermore.

Presently, our soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer; Domestic or foreign debt holder, truly our forgiveness we implore; But the fact is we were napping, and so silently our finances gaping; And so slowly it was happening, as treasure washed upon our shore; The economy was stumbling, we could add to our debt no more; - Darkness then, and nothing more.
