I am curious as to the reasons for the recent action by the School Board to improve the failing school system.
I therefore decided to use the approach suggested by Sherlock Holmes to determine the cause, “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
It is impossible for the School Board to be at fault. They set the appropriate goals, and if they are not attained, their employees must be at fault. It is impossible for reduction of funds to be responsible, since 10 years ago the schools performed much better with lower funds.
It is impossible for the parents to be at fault. They pay their taxes for the schools and tell their children of their expectations, which is all that is needed.
It is impossible for the students to be at fault since it is well known their lack of performance is the responsibility of the teachers and the staff and not theirs. It is not the teachers’ fault since the School Board hires the best people who will teach at our pay levels. It is not the voters’ fault because we elect only the most competent people to the School Board.
Therefore, while highly improbable, it must be the fault of the superintendent since everyone else is doing a superior job.
