Lawrence T. Madden
Lawrence Thomas Madden, 64, a Fountain Hills resident, passed away Feb. 2, 2010.
Born in Hibbing, Minn., he was retired from warehouse management.
He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Spencer of Juneau, Alaska, Joan Edwards (Larry), Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; brother, Terry Madden (Shannon); sisters-in-law, Barbara Madden of Virginia, Minn. and Rhonda Madden of Chisholm, Minn.; and nephew, Todd Hollister, and niece Cherie Hollister and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 69, Am Vets Post 7, and a past member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club.
There was a visitation at Messinger Fountain Hills Chapel, Sunday, Feb. 7. A graveside service will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the National Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix.
Margaret Manning
In loving memory of our mother, Margaret Joyce Flynn Manning, who passed away Feb. 3, 2010 in Fountain Hills.
She was born May 28, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Lily Jane and James Roy Flynn.
Margaret graduated from the University of British Columbia with an education degree emphasizing English, French and art.
She moved to California with her husband, Richard Charles Manning, to whom she was married for 57 years until his passing in 2001.
She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1961 in Houston, Texas, where she taught school and was engaged in numerous church and school activities.
She raised five children and moved to Sequim, Wash. upon retirement where she continued to volunteer her time and talents for charitable activities. She later lived in Montrose, Colo. and LaPorte, Texas. She lived the past six years in Fountain Hills.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Richard James Manning, Melanie Louise Knapp, David Marshall Manning, Scott William Manning, and Paul Manning. She has 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
George J. Mucha
George Joseph Mucha, 63, a Fountain Hills resident, passed away Feb. 5, 2010.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was a retired scientist and a Viet Nam veteran. There are no known survivors.
He will be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. Arrangements by Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 480-837-5588.
Kenneth G. Pehrson
Kenneth G. Pehrson passed away Feb. 4, 2010 peacefully at home from Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born April 12, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Carl and Mabel Pehrson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lorraine and Joan. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Kent of Edina, Minn., Keri (Jay) Weems of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren, Kortney, Koressa, and Jonah Weems; sisters, Marjorie Van Auken and Carol Tranberg of Minneapolis; brother-in-law, Rodney (Nancy) Larson of Delano, Minn.; nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 16150 El Lago Blvd. Fountain Hills, Inurnment will be in Minneapolis, Minn. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Jacqueline M. Wood
“Our pillar of strength,” Jacqueline M. Wood, age 65, was embraced in the arms of her Lord on Jan. 26, 2010.
There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be private for the family. It is suggested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
Jackie is survived by her five children, William Wood of Grand Junction, Colo., Howard G. (Jana) Wood of Las Vegas, Nev., Jan Marie (Russ) Talbo of Lyons, N.Y., Sandra Ann (Eddie Falcon) Wood of Fountain Hills and Tina Lee Retka of Las Vegas, Nev.; her grandchildren, Casey Lee, Chelsea, Shawna, Trevor and Elizabeth Mae; and two great grandchildren, Jakiah and Jackson.
Also her mother, Mary Northrup of Clifton Springs, N.Y.; three brothers, Theodore (Martha) Newland of Geneva, N.Y., Wilford (Lois) Newland of Newark, N.Y., Lindsley (Terry) Newland of Rochester, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.
