Empathetic

Not long ago I e-mailed a question to one of the incumbent Town Council members running for re-election. The response I finally received was a very patronizing non-answer.

I’ve had a chance to talk with Tait Elkie, a new candidate for the council. I came away knowing he definitely has the right background and qualifications for the office.

However, what really impressed me was that he not only listens, he hears. It was obvious he sincerely believes the voice of every person in Fountain Hills is important. Without a doubt in my mind, he is empathetic and understanding of peoples’ concerns. I certainly don’t feel that way about those who have been so long in office.

I was also impressed that, unlike most politicians, he admits to not having the answer to every question. And I believe him when he says he will do his best to dig out the answer.

If we elect Tait Elkie, I’m convinced our town will benefit.
