The town officially recognized “Mr. Fountain Hills,” Keith McMahan with the unveiling of a memorial in his honor on Saturday afternoon.
Alan Cruikshank, publisher of The Times and long-time friend of McMahan presided over the ceremony outside the River of Time Museum.
McMahan was remembered as a former elected official as a council member, school board member and road districts director. He was also remembered as a tireless volunteer.
McMahan passed away in March this year. The memorial included a bronze plaque created by artist Ron Head and a separate plaque remembering Keith as Fountain Hills leader and pioneer.
Doug Katonak, Roy Nickel and Marty Brown were instrumental in putting together the design and construction of the memorial. It is located at the southeast corner of the Library/Museum building.
Keith’s sister, Diane Boxleitner, and her husband, Cliff, were on had for the unveiling, and she was extremely pleased with the presentation.
Inscribed on the plaque were the words,
