Q&A with the Candidates

For the next few weeks, The Times will pose questions to the candidates and their respones will be presented here and in the newspaper.

  1. What would be your perfect vision for a downtown development? What financial role, if any, should the town play in bringing that to fruition? How would you solve a perceived parking problem between the residential and commercial users?

  2. Development plans for the Ellman property are moving forward. What residential density do you support for the site? What facilities should the town seek for the site (parks, public safety, recreation)? Should a lodging/resort site be included in the zoning?

  3. What is the most important thing you think voters should consider in making a decision on how to vote on the primary property tax?

  4. The strategic planning process for the town was initially done in 2005. Do you believe this is a valid process for long-rang planning for the community? How often should there be an update? How should citizens be involved?

  5. The town is working on an environmental policy, which has yet to be unveiled publicly. What are the types of things you would like to see included in such a policy?

  6. What are your thoughts on the selection process for a new town manager? What type of town manager would you like to see hired? What is the role of a town manager in a council/manager type of government?

  7. Topics citizens like to talk about include a public swimming pool, traffic (amount, signals at intersections, speeders), condition of the water in Fountain Lake, recycling/trash collection. How would you translate these everyday concerns of citizens into action for implementation or improvement?

  8. Is there anything you believe the town has not adequately considered or planned for looming on the horizon?
