Pass the tax

If you want to see what happens to a municipal government whose revenues rely on sales taxes and the state of Arizona sharing its revenues, look at our neighbor to the south.

Mesa is in the midst of a dire budget crunch. Staff -- good, hard-working staff -- are being laid off. The existing staff -- good, hard-working staff -- are left to do more with less. And, of course, the cheapskate citizens (who want everybody else to pay for their governmental services) voted down a property tax recently.

Sounds like many of the people who have written in here. These same citizens only get involved with matters when it appears it may cost them money or services.

You get what you pay for! Pass the property tax!

As far as making sure the money is spent wisely, show up to a few council meetings occasionally, and let your Town Council know how you feel about things they are spending your money on.

Get off your butts and get involved!
