Mr. Hugh Henry used my name and made reference to my property assessment in his letter to the editor last week. I would like to set the record straight.
Mr. Henry stated that my assessment had decreased 17.3 percent, and there was a strong inference that my role in supporting the primary property tax had somehow influenced that decrease. Considering what has happened to the market value of my property recently, this decrease is reasonable.
What he didn’t state was that this decrease relates to the full cash value (FCV) assessment. Also, what he failed to state is that my limited property value assessment (LPV), (which, by the way is the only assessment that relates to the town’s proposed primary tax) actually increased 7.4 percent from 2008 to 2009, and increased 19.2 percent from 2007 to 2009.
The property assessments are determined by the Maricopa County Assessor and are not related in any way to any actions of the town or individual. To infer otherwise is patently false. I have never protested or asked for a review of my property assessment.
