Continued support

You might think – as many do – that Goodwill is simply a place to donate those blue jeans you can’t squeeze into any more or the books your children have outgrown.

You figure it’s a worthy place to donate your gently used clothing and household items so that others might be able to buy them at an affordable price – and you’re right.

But that doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of how Goodwill is changing lives here throughout central Arizona.

Goodwill sells your donations in our stores and uses the revenue to fund job training programs for people who live in poverty, are homeless, or lack education and experience, as well as those with disabilities.

Last year, nearly 11,000 youth and adults benefited from Goodwill’s 36 human services programs. Our programs are designed to give individuals a hand up toward self-sufficiency by giving them the tools they need to prepare for and find employment; tools ranging from computer skills to English as a second language skills to a high school education.

Now, more than ever, Goodwill’s services are vital to Arizona’s workforce and economy. By shopping and donating to Goodwill – you positively impact your local community. Whether it’s our School-to-Work program, career centers or charter high schools, Goodwill provides much needed services to those who need a hand up finding self-sufficiency through the power of work.

From May 4-10, as we celebrate Goodwill Industries Week 2008, we want to say thank you to the people of Arizona whose continued support allows us to help people find and keep good jobs and enjoy the dignity and independence that work brings.
