Trump’s actions have hurt our county and its people

Posted

I read a post by Mayor Freidel calling Trump the best president in our history. I believe Councilman Skillicorn has made similar statements. Guys, please explain which actions or policies make him even a good president.

Do you approve of the cuts and firings that ended cancer research, in the middle of trials, endangering participants and setting research back tremendously? Or the cutting of USAID with many resulting deaths due to lack of promised food and medicine, unpaid farmers and rotting food?

Do you like cutting food safety inspection, clean air and water regulations, funding for NOAH (which warns of severe weather), cutting FEMA, turning down states’ requests for emergency assistance, cutting renewable energy production?

These are just a few of the “efficiency cuts” that have proven very harmful to our country both nationally and internationally. All this to fund tax cuts for the very wealthiest Americans? That’s insane!

But the worst things Trump has done attack our basic Bill of Rights. The mass deportation, without knowledge of a crime, of residents of our country who’ve lived and worked here paying taxes, starting families (often containing some citizens), ripping families apart sending some (at taxpayer expense) to a notoriously brutal El Salvadoran prison which allows no contact with family, lawyers or the public and absolutely no recourse. This isn’t how our constitution works. All residents are entitled to due process and protected from illegal search and seizure/

Amazingly, Trump recently declared his desire to deport citizens to this torture facility as well, and to enter your home to do so. And it looks like exercising your rights to free speech has now become a reason to deport anyone without a trial.

Trump took an oath to protect our Constitution against dangers foreign and domestic. Let’s demand he do so!
