The Fountain Hills Town Council approved changes regulating handbills by 6-1 vote during its Oct. 6 meeting. In September, staff brought forth proposed changes to the ordinance and council adopted the result of that.
Councilwoman Brenda Kalivianakis was the dissenting vote.
“I think all our seasonal visitors … would not appreciate people coming on their property and leaving a bunch of fliers on there that accumulate over time and they will be identified as a place that could be robbed,” she said. “Criminals are sophisticated. They target empty homes and we’re facilitating that.”
