Fountain Hills Sister Cities (FHSC) board officers, members and friends gathered at The Grill at Desert Canyon Jan. 8 for the organization’s annual general meeting and dinner.
FHSC President Christine Colley led the meeting, which included a recap of the organization’s busy and successful 2023, information on plans for 2024 and nominations and elections for the 2024 board of directors.
Highlights from last year included a visit in the fall by high school exchange students from sister city in Dierdorf, Germany; another fall visit by officials from sister city in Zamość, Poland; and the continued search for a new sister city to partner with Fountain Hills.
Upcoming plans include scholarships to be awarded to qualified international studies students; humanitarian fundraising for sister city in Ataco, El Salvador; an adult trip to Ataco; a trip by Fountain Hills High School students in June to Dierdorf; various international social events and celebrations; and more.
