The Fountain Hills Democratic Club (FHDC) will host candates running for Fountain Hills Town Council.

The meeting is set for Thursday, April 18, at the Community Center beginning at 6 p.m., with time for socializing and snacks a half hour prior to the meeting. The meeting will end at 7:30 p.m.

The speakers this month are invited candidates running in the local primary election for positions on the Fountain Hills council. These individuals include Peggy McMahon, Clayton Corey and Henry Male.

Peggy McMahon is seeking a second term on the council, according to  FHDC Spokesperson Chris Clemens.

“Serving in this capacity for the past three years has provided her with a wealth of experience and knowledge, along with developing strong and invaluable relationships with stakeholders locally and Valleywide, ensuring FH is well-represented and respected with a reputation as ‘Arizona’s number one place to live, work and play,’” Clemens added.

As a council member, McMahon serves on several committees and organizations including the Valley Metro and East Valley Partnership, the FH Pedestrian, Traffic and Safety Committee, the Dementia Friendly Town task force, the Fountain Hills Protect Our Youth Coalition and the CARES educational forum committee.

McMahon also participates in local events such as Make a Difference Day, Teen Drug Free Volunteer Day, the Dark Sky Festival and more.

Clayton Corey has lived in Fountain Hills for eight years and is eager to expand his service to the community through a council position.

Corey’s platform is centered on progressive ideals, focusing on enhancing infrastructure, nurturing economic and cultural diversity and promoting responsible, environmentally conscious development.

Corey is involved with the FH Dark Sky Association and the International Dark Sky Discovery Center. In 2018, he was recognized for his community service by the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce as the Community Volunteer of the Year and has served on the Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission and the Fountain Hills Sanitary District.

Henry Male is an Independent candidate running for town council. After working eight years in radio and television, he was employed by Domino’s Pizza, eventually becoming vice president for a multi-state Domino’s franchise.

Male changed careers and is now the director of internet sales for BMW and MINI North Scottsdale and has settled in Fountain Hills where his wife, Donna, is a teacher at the Fountain Hills Middle School. Male recently retired as president of the Fountain Hills Theater board of directors and volunteers at numerous local functions.

The community is invited to attend the meeting Thursday, April 18, to become acquainted with these town council candidates.
