Four Peaks Chapter DAR supports the Missing in America Project

Four Peaks Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) member Debbie White-Wojtysiak was a flag bearer on March 20, 2024, when the remains of veterans were laid to rest with honor at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona by the Missing in America Project (MIAP).

The MIAP is a non-profit that works to identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations and to provide honor and respect for the remains of those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes, according to a press release.

The Arizona State Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the local Four Peaks Chapter DAR provide support for the funeral ceremonies of these heroes by carrying urns, being flag bearers and taking part in the Calling of the Names Ceremony of these heroes, the release said.

Public event honoring veterans

The Four Peaks Chapter NSDAR will hold an educational event open to the public Saturday, May 11, at 9 a.m. at the Centennial Circle outside of the Fountain Hills Community Center when the first patriots of the country will be honored.

The Sons of the American Revolution will also be present in their Revolutionary War-era uniforms. The community is invited to join in the celebration of the founding of the country in collaboration with America 250, which commemorates the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

For more information about this event or DAR, email Four Peaks Chapter DAR Regent Viree Byrne at Sissy78982@aol.com.
