Corrigan announces candidacy in Fountain Hills

Town Council seat

Mathew Corrigan, a Fountain Hills homeowner and full-time resident has announced he is a candidate for Town Council.

With a degree in journalism and short career with a newspaper, magazines and a radio station, he found a sales career much more rewarding and even owned and operated his own small business.

“I have absolute respect and admiration for small business owners,” Corrigan said, “There is no tougher job than being your own boss.”

Working as a district sales manager for Fortune 500 companies allowed him an opportunity to travel. He was promoted from Colorado to Southern California and also two years in Arizona.

“The most valuable lesson I learned in sales was that listening to my customers and offering them solutions to their problems brought them success and as a result, I became successful too,” he said. “I know I will provide solutions for the residents of Fountain Hills.”

Corrigan says that he and his wife Kathy fell in love with Arizona. After retiring and living in Oregon for five years they returned to buy their dream home in their desert dream town of Fountain Hills.

“But I am concerned that a minority in the Town Council has lost the dream of Fountain Hills and is headed down the wrong path.”

After becoming active in Fountain Hills issues and speaking out on local issues in Town Council meetings, Planning and Zoning meetings and opinion letters to the Fountain Hills Times Independent, several people encouraged Corrigan to become a candidate for Fountain Hills Town Council to help bring meaningful solutions to Fountain Hills. “I want to be an activist for the residents of Fountain Hills and provide solutions.” says Corrigan.

Those solutions involve the repair and improvement of roads, infrastructure, public safety including and addressing vagrancy, aggressive panhandling and illegal camping. He said local small businesses need town support and a new approach to economic development by hiring people with contacts and influence with decision makers in higher education, healthcare and technology.

Corrigan’s other interests are reading, hiking, working out at the health club, running, swimming and general aviation flying as a private pilot.
