I am writing to share my amazing story of how I was reunited with my dearly beloved “Mateo” as a result of the wonderful people at Fearless Kitty Rescue.

My family and I relocated here from Washington State last August. Our cats were indoor/outdoor cats in Washington, but we realized that wouldn’t be possible here with all the hungry wildlife roaming outside.

One day, though, Mateo slipped out while I was leaving. I thought he’d be back that night, but he was still missing after several days. Everyone told me the horrors he was probably going through and, after a few weeks, I resigned myself to the fact that my baby was gone.

A month later a co-worker showed me a picture of a cat she saw while browsing through Facebook. She had seen pictures of my cat and asked if the picture was of Mateo -- it was! Mateo had been found and Fearless Kitty Rescue (FKR) was contacted to help locate the owner. FKR posted the picture on multiple Facebook pages.

I called Kim, at FKR, and went in that day to pick up my sweet baby. There is no agency, in my opinion, more deserving of the $10,000 grant. They bring families together with lost cats and match families with kitties in need. They provide medical care, love and a safe place through the efforts of a team of wonderful volunteers.

And you should see the “Kitty Hotel” these kitties have while waiting for their “furever” home: spacious, clean and full of love. Kim and all those with Fearless Kitty Rescue have inspired me to volunteer my time at the rescue center.

Thank you, FKR, for everything you did for my family and Mateo and thank you for all you do for the Fountain Hills community.
